Kenko™ Sleep Technology
Overview
The Kenko Sleep System is scientifically designed to increase relaxation and support a variety of physical and mental functions for restful and restorative sleep.
The Sleep System combines a Nikken Kenko mattress or pad with a Nikken comforter and pillow. Each component contains advanced technology designed to improve sleep quality.
Support
The Kenko pad or mattress features a design that has no springs. Its construction shapes itself to body contours. This prevents the formation of pressure points that can interrupt sleep or prevent the sleeper from attaining optimal rest.
This support system is designed to accommodate all body types. The support product is provided either as a full-depth, air-suspension mattress or as a supporting and cushioning pad that is placed atop a conventional mattress. The air-suspension component is fully pressure-adjustable, to arrive at a desired firmness and comfort level. This is actuated by pneumatic pump, with locking valves to retain the desired pressure. Precision pressure settings are displayed in millimeters of mercury.
Magnetic components
The Kenko Sleep System features a grid of magnets in the mattress or pad, comforter and pillow that replicates the earth’s magnetic flow. This produces a cocoon of magnetism that envelops the sleeper.
The magnets are of the bipole static type and are arranged in a grid pattern. This provides a deep field that extends for several inches from every surface.
Rubberthane massage surface
A layer of Nikken Rubberthane is directly beneath the mattress or pad cover. This layer is a surface of dual-density nodules that impart a passive massage effect.
It uses the sleeper’s own motion to create a gentle stimulation and help to ease tension.
Viscoelastic foam
Selected Nikken sleep products feature a layer of viscoelastic foam. This “memory foam” reacts to pressure and temperature, molding to the body for a custom fit during sleep.
Built-in ventilation
Air-flow ventilation within the various components promotes the free flow of air without creating drafts. Foam layers in the pad or mattress insulate but do not trap air in hot spots. Air circulates freely through channels in the Kenko Dream Pillow. All Sleep System surfaces are covered in breathable fabric.
Far-Infrared Technology
Nikken Far-Infrared Technology absorbs energy from a variety of sources — sunlight, body or room temperature — and releases it as energy in the far-infrared part of the spectrum. Energy-reactive fibers constantly receive intake energy and reflect it as gentle warmth. In warmer weather, these fibers reach a limit in the amount of energy absorbed, and the excess heat will pass through the material and escape.
Ionic Comfort Technology
Ionic Comfort Technology is the name of a subsystem within Sleep System components that generates negative ions. These odorless, invisible, charged particles, identical to those found in the air in forests and near waterfalls, are emitted by fibers in the comforter and pillow and assist in imparting a sense of relaxation.
Advanced pillow design
The ergonomically correct shape of the Kenko Sleep System pillow cradles and supports the head and neck, and preserves correct spinal alignment in conjunction with the spinal conformation provided by the mattress or pad.
The Kenko Dream Pillow features ceramic tiles that act as a heat sink. It additionally includes a Rubberthane massaging layer and viscoelastic foam with magnets in a grid pattern complementing the magnets in the Sleep System mattress or pad.
A sleep mask is available which provides light-blocking cover for eyes and includes magnetic and far-infrared components.
Effects
A sleep system that offers improved support for the musculoskeletal system, improved temperature control and additional enhancements in comfort will contribute to quality sleep.
This is significant because according to many medical authorities, quality sleep may be the single most important factor in maintaining long-term health.
Regular sleep on a Kenko Sleep System can contribute to better mental function such as improved learning ability and decision-making faculty, improved memory, greater alertness and increased mental performance.
Quality sleep can also support physical health including resistance to/recovery from fatigue, improved immune system function, better ability to resist premature aging, increased ability to resist stress, and better-regulated hormone production that can help prevent weight gain or obesity.
